Our club has been set up to promote the enjoyment of playing duplicate bridge. We have no permanent base as we do not hold regular sessions, just bridge classes and special events such as holidays and charity bridge days.
We are affiliated to the English Bridge Union, the national body responsible for bridge.
We are a not-for-profit private members’ club. Day-to-day running of the club is carried out by the Chairman and Secretary/Treasurer. Although, generally, officials will be paid at the appropriate EBU rate, they will be expected to provide their services free of charge for charity bridge days.
Membership is open to all on completion of the appropriate form. There are two classes of member – voting members and ordinary members.
Voting members pay an annual subscription equivalent to the prevailing EBU rate. In return their EBU subscription is paid and they have voting rights at committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting. Members paying their EBU subscription by direct debit or through other clubs are also entitled to be voting members.
Ordinary members pay no annual subscription, but do not have voting rights at any meetings. |
